House of Lords
The second chamber of Parliament. Its members are appointed, not elected.
Members of the House of Lords bring experience from public life. They debate the issues of the day and question the Government. In UKOGB, bills become law after one reading and vote in the House of Commons and Royal Assent, so the Lords is a place for debate and scrutiny rather than a second vote. Staff appoint new Lords.
